340B Health has an immediate opening for a Vice President of Government Relations at our growing nonprofit health care trade association. In this position, you will be responsible for directing advocacy with congressional offices and the administration as well as overseeing the work of the organization’s government relations staff and contract lobbyists. This position offers a rewarding and exciting opportunity for you to become an advocate for the 340B drug discount program, safety-net hospitals, and the patients in need whom they serve.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior executives to develop the organization’s legislative strategyand advocacy materials.
  • Oversee alloutreach bystaff andcontract lobbyists to Congressand the administration.
  • Ensure the organizationmaintains strong, bipartisan relations with congressionaloffices.
  • Cultivate relationships with Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) officials.
  • Lead legislative activities that include holdingstrategymeetings with staffand consultants, drafting member alerts, compiling Capitol Hillvisit reports, and organizing sign-on letters.
  • Manage all aspects of the organization’s political action committee (340B Health PAC),
  • Draft andmaintain legislative materials that include talking points, bill updates, letters to elected officials, articles forpublications, and relevantsections ofthe organization’s website.
  • Represent the organization by speaking atconferences andotherpublic forums.
  • Oversee grassroots andgrasstops efforts, through mobilization of hospital members on key legislative priorities.
  • Coordinate activities with allied organizations onlegislative and policyinitiatives.
  • LeadHill Dayevents and other member hospital advocacy events.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum seven years equivalent professional experience
  • Experience in a supervisory role preferred


Skills and Abilities:

  • Track record of legislative accomplishments in the health care field
  • Understanding of health care policy issues, such as pharmaceutical, Medicare, Medicaid, and hospital policy issues, preferred
  • Strong organizational, writing, and communications skills
  • Strong teambuilding skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)


Other Pertinent Information: 

  • Staff are currently in the office on a 2-3 days per week schedule during the COVID pandemic. A permanent policy has not yet been established, and we expect some telecommuting to be allowed when a policy is made permanent. Candidates for this position must live in or be relocating to the Washington metropolitan area and be able to work in the Washington, D.C., office.
  • All 340B Health employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) current guidelines. We also require that all employees receive a booster vaccine per CDC guidelines. Proof of receiving the required doses of one of the vaccines approved in the U.S. and receiving a booster vaccination shall be a condition of employment. 340B Health will consider exemption requests from candidates who cannot be vaccinated due to disability, medical contraindication, or sincerely held religious beliefs and those who claim an exemption under applicable state law.
