The Washington D.C. office of an international law firm seeks a Senior Public Affairs Advisor to join a dynamic energy practice that works with clients on federal legislative and regulatory issues related to energy, environment, natural resources and climate policy and regulatory matters.

Job functions include:

  • Maintaining a current working knowledge of energy-related government programs across numerous agencies and research institutions.
  • Managing and preparing government grant, loan, and procurement applications.
  • Identifying and building relationships with key federal and state government officials, industry representatives and other leaders in the energy & cleantech sector.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with appropriate industry associations, working groups, and NGOs, and playing a leadership role in those groups to help leverage their influence on behalf of clients. 
  • Attending industry events and conferences for both current client objectives and potential business development opportunities.

Requirements

 Job requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics or public policy.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the energy/environment policy arena, with Capitol Hill or Department of Energy EERE or Loan Program Office experience preferred.
  • Experience in writing or reviewing applications for federal agency grants or loan guarantees.
  • Solid understanding of project finance preferred.
  • Strong understanding with federal energy policy including statues and regulations and the Congressional appropriations and legislative process.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and energy incentives such as the Renewable Fuels Standard.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to balance multiple projects; attention to detail; strong organizational skills; extensive computer skills including MS Office, excel, and search engines; ability to work well in fast-paced work environment; strong work ethic and flexibility and willingness to provide high level of client service.
