Job Summary

As part of our expanding Offshore Wind Permitting Services, AECOM is seeking Environmental Compliance Monitors (ECMs) to provide field environmental oversight during active construction of onshore, nearshore and potentially offshore wind energy/transmission infrastructure. Locations for work deployment include southeastern New England and coastal New York.

The ECMs will interpret environmental permit and certificate conditions to ensure construction phase activities conform to local, state and federal permits.

Responsibilities include but aren't limited to the following:

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.

  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.

  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.

  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.

  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Works under general supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in environmental science, biology, geology, or a related field + 2 years as a field environmental inspector and/or field natural resource scientist with construction oversight experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of prior experience as a field environmental inspector and/or field natural resource scientist with construction oversight experience.

  • The ability to work extended hours and at times overnight construction is desirable.

  • Offshore ECMs that have offshore survey/safety certifications also desirable.
