Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. operates the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, a Federally Funded Research and Development Center focused on cancer and AIDS research. This is the only national lab within the Department of Health and Human Services.

Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc.'s staff of scientific, technical, and support professionals conducts basic and applied research in cancer and AIDS, operates and manages the federal government's only vaccine manufacturing facilities (VPP, BDP), and runs the high-performance Advanced Biomedical Computing Center.

Insurance Plans

We offer a variety of programs for which employees can choose, including medical, dental, vision, group term and supplemental life and accident insurance, and short-term and long-term disability programs.

Vacation and Sick Leave

Eligible employees accrue vacation and sick leave each pay period. Accrual rates vary, based on status and years of service with the company. Benefits start immediately upon hire for all plans. There is no waiting period.


Full-time Leidos Biomedical Research employees are eligible for 10 paid holidays during the year. Part-time employees receive holiday pay proportionate to their regularly scheduled workweek. Leidos Biomedical Research traditionally observes the following holidays.

Education Assistance

Leidos Biomedical Research recognizes that its employees are vital resources whose talents are critical to the success of the company; therefore, we offer a Tuition Assistance Plan, which provides up to 100 percent of tuition (at the time of registration) for full-time employees who satisfactorily complete pre-approved work-related courses.

Retirement Plan

Leidos Biomedical Research offers employees the opportunity to participate in an employer match 401(k) plan. Employees can save up to 25 percent of their salary on a tax-deferred basis, subject to current plan rules and IRS testing requirements. There is a company match of 50% on the employee’s first 6% of contributions.

Flex Spending Plan

The Flex plan allows employees to pay premium contributions and health and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars. Employees may defer up to $2,500 on a pre-tax basis to pay for health care expenses and $5,000 on a pre-tax basis to pay for dependent daycare expenses.

Employee Assistance Plan

Employees have access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program, which provides employees and their family members with free, confidential assistance to help with family, personal, and job-related issues. Other benefits include financial and legal services assistance.
