Established in 1995, the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening (CEPPS) pools the expertise of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, the International Republican Institute and the National Democratic Institute, as well as seven associate partner-, and more than 20 resource partner organizations.  The Global Elections and Political Transitions (GEPT) mechanism is a five-year USAID Leader With Associates (LWA) award held by CEPPS.  

Based in Washington, DC, The Junior Accountant will support the CEPPS Grants Manager with the day-to-day financial operations of CEPPS and its implementation of the GEPT LWA mechanism. Specifically, the Junior Accountant will support the Grant Manager and finance team in ensuring that CEPPS is meeting its financial obligations under the GEPT Leader Award, as well as any Associate Awards issued under the LWA.   

Primary Functions and Responsibilities 

•  Assists Senior Accountant in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings 
•  Organize all financial reports on SharePoint
• Assist Grants Manager with preparation for all financial audits 
• Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate  
• Manage and record post-draw down paperwork on financial database 
• Assist with Financial Drawdowns 
•  Assist accountants on an as-needed basis 
•  Backup for other CEPPS accounting positions during vacation and/or vacancy periods
• Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

• Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field. 
• Two years of Accounting experience
• Strong skills in MS Office
• Good communicator, both verbally and in writing
• Experience in Deltek Costpoint preferred
• Knowledge of GAAP and OMB 2CFR200 preferred
